FRC Game Fields by Year

Select a competition year to explore the unique game field, rules, and challenges that teams faced during that season. Each year brings innovative game mechanics and field designs that test different aspects of robot engineering and strategy.

2025 FRC Field

2025 - FRC Field

The 2025 FRC game Reefscape features an ocean-themed field with alliance zones at each end and a central reef area. Robots collect coral (PVC pipes) and algae (foam balls) to score in Coral Stations and the Processor. The centre truss, called the Barge, holds Cages for the endgame climb. AprilTags support autonomous routines, and smart movement, scoring, and climbing are key to success in this dynamic field.

Skills & Learning

At Team Sheldon, you won’t just build robots — you’ll build an impressive skill set that’ll carry you far beyond the competition arena.

Advanced Programming
Team members develop strong coding skills in languages like Java, Python, and C++, using professional-grade robotics frameworks. You'll get hands-on experience programming autonomous functions, integrating artificial intelligence, and crafting robust strategies for real-time problem-solving on the field.
Mechanical Engineering
From 3D modelling to full-scale construction, you'll learn how to design, prototype, and build complex mechanical systems. Using tools like CAD software, CNC routers, and other fabrication equipment, you'll explore materials science, understand how drivetrains and gearboxes work, and gain practical experience in mechanical design and assembly.
Leadership Excellence
In Team Sheldon, leadership isn't just a title it's a skill. You'll learn to lead projects, manage time and teams, and coordinate complex tasks under pressure. From mentoring newer members to running sub-teams and refining match strategy, leadership here is about inspiring others and delivering results.
Business Acumen
You'll master the art of pitching, sponsorship acquisition, and budget management. Whether it's writing sponsor emails, maintaining professional relationships, or presenting our team at public events, you'll gain real-world business skills that turn STEM passion into long-term success.
Communication Mastery
From high-pressure match calls to technical presentations, you'll become a confident communicator. You'll practise public speaking, explain complex ideas clearly, and work effectively with a team, learning how to adapt your voice depending on the audience” whether it's judges, sponsors, or students at an outreach event.
